Next up on the firing line for us to test was the McCulloch MAC GBV345 Leaf Blower. Before we got our hands on this one we had high expectations on getting good power performance due to previous owners of the model. Take a look at the video below before we dive into our review:

Our Review

When you receive the blower there is a small task in setting it up but with the instructions delivered it takes only a short amount of time before you’re starting it up. The main thing we seen with this blower is its build quality, it looked very clean and sturdy being able to take a knock or two with minimal damage. However this leads onto weight which coming in at 7kg is certainly not light and is an important part if you are looking to use it for long periods of time.

One thing to keep in mind before purchasing this leaf blower is that you do require to buy the petrol and oil (2 stroke – recommended in ratio 40:1 as stated in manual) for more information check out our article on 2 stroke oil. Oil and petrol won’t cost you much more but is another factor with gas powered leaf blowers. You can also check out our Accessories section where we state recommended oil and other accessories.

So once the blower was assembled and fuelled ready to go we started it up and tested it out. As soon as you try out the power of this model you certainly feel how powerful it really is. Both wet and dry leaves were easily moved at ease which really is the main factor we aim for when testing. Once we were done blowing leaves mindlessly about for a few minutes we moved onto the vacuum to clear our mess up.

Upon checking the McCulloch MAC GBV345 leaf blower’s manual we discovered that switching from blower to vacuum is not as simple as pressing a switch and we had to do some work. Luckily enough the instructions were easily to follow and carry out although it does cost you a little extra time, something to keep in mind if you have small tasks needing completed quickly as possible. On trying out the vacuum we realized the power certainly isn’t as memorable as its blower power. However it did manage to vacuum up the leaves doing its job and certainly not a useless feature. Not forgetting the Mulcher which was great in shredding the leaves down through its higher ratio of 16:1 which is a lot better than a lot of the lower cost leaf blowers. So the mulcher certainly boosted up the rating some where the vacuum let it down ever so slightly.

Other features such as the cruise control and anti-vibration were a great bonus. Both of these features have an impact on the user’s health and comfort when operating the leaf blower. Cruise Control is a great feature which stops you having to hold down the on button preventing you from getting numb fingers and discomfort. Anti-vibration is equally as great as it reduced the vibrations the leaf blower gives off for prolonged operation.
